Movements can be designed
That is the frontier we are working on, through real communities and teams.
Come and explore it with us.
Before any of it was a practice, we were simply trying to work out what ‘culture’ actually is and how we could build it.
There is plenty written about what a good culture feels like. There is very little about how you create one on purpose.
So we went out to the frontier and started running the experiments ourselves.
OriginsCultural movements are the most powerful force we have.
They rewrite what we believe, what is accepted, and what gets built next. The more of them we study, the more it looks like instinct, luck, and persistence. But very little of how a cultural movement can be built, was written down for anyone else to use.
Attention is the easy part. Most businesses spend a fortune collecting it, and it only ever buys a few seconds. Culture sits underneath attention and decides what people value. Value is what makes a category grow, a policy pass, a habit stick.
We think business can be a force for good, and the proof of it is simple. Companies that can read and shape culture end up building what their communities actually want, and they get rewarded for doing it.
That is capitalism working the way it was meant to.
Nobody has a reliable method for designing a movement on purpose. That is the puzzle, and it is why this community exists.
No visionary has ever done it alone.
The ideas big enough to change something need people around them. Not an audience, and not staff. A group who want the same thing and are willing to build it with you. The best of them build with their people, never off them.
That applies to us as much as anyone. We are not going to work this field out on our own, so we are not trying to. The Culture Method is where we run the experiments in the open, alongside people applying culture design to their own teams and communities, and share the notes as they come.
A field gets defined by the people practising it.
Inside The Culture Method
Field Notes
An inside view of the work we are doing, for real businesses and communities.
We share our tactics, risky calls, and what each move costs us.
Community
Like-minded people running Culture Design experiments in their own communities and gatherings.
This is where we help each other build, and shape the field.
Our Tools
Checklists, playbooks, and our Culture Systems blueprints.
So you can design your own Notion workspaces and culture aligned AI. Or just borrow ours.
Live Learning
Everything about Culture Design, restructured to give you a professional edge.
Battle tested through our own projects and updated as the work changes.
People looking to learn and apply Culture Design to their own practice
People already running communities or working in culture who would like to trade notes with like minded people
Explorers who align with our mission, and would like to help us shape the field itself
Interest is the only experience this asks for, and if you have not started anything yet, that is the best possible time to learn it.
Who this is for
In a world that disconnects us, Culture Design brings us back together.
We are welcoming people a few at a time so we can really get to know them.
If you'd like to join us, signal your interest and we'll get in touch.
